Video surveillance from EG puts a curb on shrinkage at XL-BYG
Shoplifting has always been the scourge of the retail industry – also in Nexø and Rønne where Fridolf A/S runs two XL-BYG shops. EG Retail installed a surveillance solution in the two shops where more than 70 cameras now keep a keen eye on shelves and displays.
Cameras capture what the employees do not see
To demonstrate to the employees why video surveillance was necessary, a "professional" shoplifter was let loose in one of the shops on a day when many employees were present. He ran off with several items and even a lawn mower without anyone noticing, but everything was caught on camera.
More than 20 cases of shoplifting have been solved
Since then, the system has helped to solve more than 20 cases of shoplifting. Thanks to the excellent image quality, local police have also caught criminals who had been to XL-BYG to acquire tools for their next "job".
