With more than 17,000 daily transactions, ABC Lavpris has high requirements on uptime for its cash register systems. This is why the company has selected EG Retail as its partner to deliver technical service and support in case assistance is needed.
In 1981, the first ABC Lavpris store opened in Denmark. Since then, another 10 stores have opened, which makes a current total of 11 Danish ABC Lavpris stores. The individual stores in this discount supermarket chain are run by committed store managers who want to optimise both store operations and customer satisfaction.
Crashes result in an instant cost
Good customer service is an important sales parameter in the intense battle to win customers – not least in the retail food business. This is why ABC Lavpris has focus on both quality, technology and operations in its IT solutions.
“It is extremely important that our cash register solutions are reliable in operation and can handle the many daily transactions. First of all, we want to provide the best possible service to our customers to make sure that they get a good shopping experience. Secondly, we will lose money if we are not able to service our customers," says Torben Tobiasen, ABC Lavpris.
Efficient operation with maximum uptime is consequently of utmost importance. This is why ABC Lavpris has high requirements on smooth and error-free operation of the IT solutions in its 11 stores.
"In ABC Lavpris, we have around 60 computer-based cash registers with connected printers, barcode scanners, screens and credit card terminals, and to ensure the best possible uptime in our stores, we have entered into a service contract with EG Retail," Torben Tobiasen continues.
Nationwide service and support
The EG Retail service and support department consists of 70 competent and experienced employees situated in central locations in Skanderborg and Holbæk. The employees are specialists within all types of service and support assistance, from traditional resolution of hardware errors found in servers, computers and peripheral equipment to delivery of support services for complex financial and inventory management systems.
If you choose to enter into an operational agreement with EG Retail, you get a safety net in the form of fast and competent assistance. This means that you no longer have to worry about server crashes, backup, support, system updates or other IT issues.
"In case there is a problem with the IT equipment in an ABC Lavpris store, the manager calls EG Retail. If the problem cannot be solved on the phone, the issue is evaluated, and a resolution time is agreed upon. This can be from two hours and up to a week depending on the impact of the issue on the daily operations,” says Torben Tobiasen, ABC Lavpris.
