Trysil is a postcard-perfect winter destination, ideal for those who love long days on steep slopes or endless cross-country trails. The ski resort is recognized as a sustainable destination and is just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Oslo.
We’re talking about Norway's largest ski resort, which has seen remarkable development in recent years. The resort features 68 well-groomed slopes, extensive children's areas, an excellent ski school, and diverse skiing experiences for all ages. A total of 31 different lifts provide access to the entire area, dominated by the majestic 1,132-meter-high Trysil Mountain.
"I've worked here since 1988. I started as a lift operator back then, but now I'm the maintenance manager. We didn’t have as many lifts 33 years ago, and my job has become much more extensive over the years. Doing the job the old-fashioned way wouldn’t work today. We also wouldn’t have achieved the operational reliability we have now," says Arnstein.
Alpine guests can enjoy 71 kilometers of varied runs. Skistar takes pride in the well-prepared slopes and the smooth operation, even with thousands of visitors at Trysil Mountain.
Arnstein showcases the heart of the resort, where a large team ensures that the lifts and tows run perfectly, hour after hour, in all weather conditions. "This is our workshop. Here, we perform thorough maintenance on snow groomers, snowmobiles, vehicles, and ski lifts. In short, everything that moves in the resort."
Arnstein explains how they achieve such high uptime and longevity for all the equipment necessary to run one of Northern Europe’s largest ski resorts: "Vehicle drivers report all issues or deviations in EG Maintenance, which then creates a work order for the mechanics. We use EG Maintenance similarly for daily inspections of all ski lifts."
For ski lifts, there are very strict regulatory maintenance requirements that must be performed regularly. If we don’t do our job, we can’t operate the ski lifts.
EG Maintenance is a user-friendly system for industrial maintenance. It is a standardized system that is easy to implement and provides a complete overview of the entire machinery fleet. This system is crucial for keeping Trysil running smoothly and ensuring that ski guests can enjoy the slopes all season long. What worked fine without technology and systems in 1988 would be nearly impossible over thirty years later.
"Everyday operations require oversight and control of all maintenance and repair tasks, and it's hard to manage that today without a system to assist," smiles Arnstein.
Skistar Trysil is Norway's largest ski resort with both accommodation and restaurants within ski distance. Enjoy a comfortable skiing holiday with well-groomed slopes, luxurious hotels and modern lifts.
