EG acquires Norwegian Vigilo with focus on software for early childhood and elementary education

Copenhagen, August 12, 2024 – Today EG, a leading Nordic software company, announced the acquisition of the Norwegian software company Vigilo to strengthen its position within EdTech in the Nordics.

"High quality, lifelong education for as many citizens as possible is the trademark of a modern and democratic society. In EG we want to support this by delivering world-class software for the educational sector", says CEO Mikkel Bardram, EG:

"Vigilo has developed a modern and intuitive software platform for teachers, parents and students. Their products are a great addition to our product portfolio within the educational sector", says CEO Mikkel Bardram, EG.

Vigilo software streamlines administrative tasks in the educational sector, freeing up time for teachers and saving costs for public and private schools.

Vigilo software also acts as a central hub within the educational sector in Norway, storing and delivering data for key processes such as accounting, payroll, and archiving.

EG more than doubles the size of its existing EdTech business by acquiring Vigilo and demonstrates the commitment to the industry:

"By combining the deep vertical expertise of Vigilo and EG, we will be able to expand our offerings significantly to existing and new customers in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

"We see a great opportunity for both Vigilo and our existing EdTech products to serve more educational institutions in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Vigilo has proven its value in the Norwegian market, and we believe that many Danish customers would benefit from its features as well. Likewise, we have some strong EdTech solutions in Denmark that we think would appeal to customers in Norway and Sweden", says Executive Vice President Johnny Iversen, EG.

New Nordic opportunities for Vigilo

For Vigilo, the change of owners marks the start of working with new opportunities:

"I feel confident that EG A/S is the right owner of Vigilo AS. We share the same passion for supporting our customers, and we will benefit from being part of a larger organization with a common way of working and appetite to invest further in existing and new solutions", says CEO Øystein Viland of Vigilo AS.

"We have for some time been looking for the right partner with the right mindset and the muscle to bring Vigilo even further, and now we found it. EG has just the right in-depth knowledge about EdTech and an organizational setup, that will help to strengthen our products ", says CEO, Øystein Viland, Vigilo.

Vigilo will now have access to EG's extensive distribution network and customer base that spans across several countries.

The acquisition demonstrates the commitment of EG to strengthening the educational sector.

"The Nordic pre-school and primary school system is unique and very important. In EG we want to contribute to maintaining high quality in the educational sector, and we can do that even better together with Vigilo.

I am happy to welcome the employees from Vigilo and to be able to offer Vigilo the added backbone of stability, security and innovation that EG offers", says Senior Vice President, Steffen Rugtved.

EG took over Vigilo AS on July 19, 2024. The seller and buyer have agreed not to disclose any further details about the sale price and other terms of the transaction.
